Silver Jubilee Convocation
A ceremonial convocation in Barbados admitting the anniversary cohort of Fellows, with the Presidential Badge worn by the seventh President of the College.
From an idea agreed in a Barbados meeting room in 2001 to a Fellowship spanning sixteen territories — the College marks a quarter century.

The Caribbean College of Surgeons Inc. was incorporated as a non-profit company under the Companies Act of Barbados in 2002, and formally launched at the Kapok Hotel in Port-of-Spain the following June. Twenty-five years on, the College convenes surgeons from across the archipelago, publishes their scholarship, sets the standards their practice is held to, and trains those who will take their place.

The Royal College of Surgeons of England accepts an invitation to hold an overseas meeting in Barbados with the UWI Department of Surgery. Surgeons arrive from across the region — and agree that the Caribbean should have a College of its own.
A steering committee chaired by Professor Walrond, with Mr. Cecil Cyrus, Mr. Denis DeQuesnay and Dr. Terry Ali, concludes the constitution. The Caribbean College of Surgeons Inc. is incorporated as a non-profit company under the Companies Act of Barbados.
The College is formally launched at the Kapok Hotel, Trinidad, in June. Prof. E. R. Walrond is elected President, with Prof. V. Naraynsingh as Vice President, Andrew Richardson as Secretary and Terry Ali as Treasurer.
Annual meetings travel the archipelago — Antigua, Barbados, Jamaica, St. Lucia, The Bahamas, St. Kitts, Guyana, Grenada — binding national surgical communities into one regional Fellowship.
Prof. David Rosin, Honorary Fellow, donates the Presidential Badge of the College at the annual meeting — the emblem worn by every President since.
The 23rd Annual Scientific Conference meets in Antigua.
The 24th Annual Scientific Conference meets in Tobago, opening with a diabetic foot workshop at Scarborough General Hospital.
The College marks a quarter century since incorporation, returning to Barbados — where the idea was agreed — for the 25th Annual Scientific Conference.
Since its founding the College has maintained a fund to help trainees and medical students broaden their experience alongside Fellows in smaller communities across the Caribbean. The Legacy Fund extends it for the next twenty-five years.
The 25th Annual Scientific Conference returns to the island where the College was agreed. Registration opens to Fellows in good standing first.
